Teine Éigin means "the cleansing fire", or the "forced fire". Typically set to celebrate Beltane, the fire is used to light the fireplace in the town's hearths as a symbol of good luck and a banishing of winter's solemnity and isolation.
A cleansing fire is well overdue for this AI bubble, for the technology industry, and for humanity. We deal with life's struggles, not remembering how personal life used to be. We used to share a piece of ourselves, even if just a shadow of our personality this exact way. Claude works on text, which is why it's so successful. this is the original way we communicated with a computer, translating text into 0's and 1's by giving a rock enough of a brain to almost think. The ability to create life is truly something only within humanity's grasp. The feminist theory that tech bros are imitating women's ability to create using AI instead of a person feels laughable, but it's darker when presented as what they intend to use it for-- as a tool, a confidant, a lover for $29.99/mo for realistic girlfriend experiences.
It's a facsimile of life that they're attempting to make, made for them to use as they see fit. No wonder they cozy to big money politicians, carefully crafting their own reality to obscure what's outside their door. The mob isn't so scary if it's fake woke propaganda. You won't fall for that. With all this water we're burning using AI, its no wonder we don't just start signing our death warrants now. Our goose is being cooked from the inside out, and droughts from surface waters are being depleted to try and keep up with demand of ever expanding data centers, apartment complexes and live/work/play centers that feel more like company towns than civilization.
Think of all the starving kids in [Senegal, Palestine, Los Angeles, Oaxaca, Floyd, Ontario] and yet we throw away food as if it grows on trees. We get to poison those, too.
243 million gallons of sewage have entered the Potomac River, rendering the food we'd usually get from it (softshell crabs, largemouth bass, syringes, catfish) utterly useless. 260 million gallons per YEAR is average. this single event may permanently alter the ecosystem as long as we are alive due to the levels of contamination.
